“I Don't Just Make Websites... I Read 'Em.”
Here are a few of my favorite websites, based on my own interests more than anything else. Not to say that there isn't anything worth checking out here. There are links to some of my favorite bands and whatnot, with a few links to random things here and there. This page is sort of in flux, and if you'd like to see a link to your page here, just let me know. If it fits my person view of the Inter-Web, then by all means... send it my way. I'm always looking for new ways to waste time while I'm supposed to be do my homework.
...And
You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead! Homepage:
I can't say enough nice things about this band. They make
me laugh, they make me cry, they teach me the value of
slaughtering your enemies and all to a waltz time signature.
I love them, they are amazing, please check out their site.
The
Dead Milkmen Home Page: One of
the things I regret most is that I never got to see The Dead
Milkmen live. Sigh. Regardless, their web page
(maintained by the band) is pretty damn cool.
GERMS
MANIMAL PAGE: Back in the old
days ('96 or so) I used to maintain a page about the Germs, but
have since let the page become obsolete and pointless (and now,
if I'm not mistaken, is no longer around). This page,
maintained by a guy who used some of my old page as a resource,
is put together very well and has a lot of fun to sift through,
so you should check it out. It's a lot more complete than
mine ever was, and really delves into the Germs Phenomenon in a
way I was only beginning to scratch the surface. Check it out.
The
Unofficial Green Lantern Corps Web Page:
My favorite comic book character is Green Lantern. Always has
been, always will be. I always wanted to write a book about
all the Green Lanterns in the known universe. Who knew this
guy would beat me to the punch? And a damn fine job he did
at it too.
Ipecac
Records: A page dedicated to
Mike Patton's label, with information about the bands that are on
it. This is one of those record labels you feel bad about
recommending to your friends: while you might like it, most of
the stuff runs a little left of center, and it's hard to find
something they might like. I love it, so if you're into slightly
experimental rock and other off-the-wall shit, check it out.
Kung
Fu Ramone: This site is
maintained by my buddy Chris, and it contains quite a few funny
things relating to Linux, porno, heavy metal, and other such
entertaining things. Check out the Blog, which are well worth
reading.
NegativWorldWideWebland:
One of my favorite bands ever. This site has everything:
Information about releases, gadgets you can build, a Real Audio
link to their weekly radio show (every Thursday night at midnight
for three hours), and more. Highly recommended. If
you can't get through to the site, I'll be more than happy to
give you the low down on them, as I'm the local Negativland
ex-spurt.
Neutered
Prunes: Another shameless plug for
kiisu's band. (In case you were wondering, yes, he does pay
me for this.)
The
Onion: The only on-line news
source I trust.
RackmØunt
Industries: Not only do they
host this site, but they have a leading edge in the “Blowing
Up Shit With Potato Cannons” field. Hell yeah!
“RackmØunt Industries: Where Science, If Done
Properly, Just Might Kill You.”
Really Bad Idea: While we own this site, we haven't really “launched” it yet, and there's not much there. The re-design is actually here.
“Seneca” by Chester Rich: This is a page my father put together, which contains a web-accessible biography that my grandfather wrote before he died. It's pretty good, actually, and maybe gives a little insight into this family illness we all seem to have involving "writing".
Taylor
Twins Pictures: These two brothers
just released their first film, Evil Cult, which is
fantastic if I do say so myself. My sister introduced me to this
movie as they are friends of hers. Imagine a good mix of Sam
Rami, John Carpenter, and campy thrillers.
The Official Tough Guy Website: This is my brother Kyle's website. He's really into video games, sports, Top 10 lists, music, and even posts some of his own writing (mostly poems & songs). Yep, our whole family is this way.
Watching
The Detectives: Another one of my
favorite comics is The Watchmen, and this site is a great
Internet companion to the book. There are others, but this one
really has comprehensive annotations and supplementary
information. You should really read The Watchmen first
before you browse the site.
THE
WIPERS Official Web Page: This
page is about one of my favorite bands ever, and it's maintained
by Greg Sage (of The Wipers) himself! Rock on! This
page also has information about Zeno
Records (Greg's label) and a page
dedicated to the History
Of Portland Punk. All in all, it's
worth checking out. For those of you who live in Portland,
the history section is pretty rad.
I'll post more links as the desire strikes me...
