More Than Just Your Father's Website
Over the years I've taken on some other web-projects aside from my own A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.-based stuff. For the most part, these are band-sites, with all the usual information that you've come to expect from such media. There are a lot of MP3s, and general information like who did what and where. I've tried to keep these projects separate from the rest of this site because each of them is unique in their own particular way, and really have no connection to my 'zines or my Blog. While that is like saying that your job has no connection to your life outside of it, a simple review of these sites will make it easy enough to understand why I've done it this way. As always, your input is not only suggested, but encouraged.
A.C.R.O.N.Y.M.
I.t.'s. N.o.t. J.u.s.t. A. W.o.r.d. A.n.y.m.o.r. (The Band).
I don't just fancy myself a writer, but an aspiring experimental
musician as well. Dating all the way back to High School, the
name A.C.R.O.N.Y.M. was originally the name of my wanna-be band.
This site gives you all there is to know about what I did with
this band, with some anecdotes about the three shows I've done
under that name. While this is not a project I pursue with the
dedication I of my publishing endeavors, I have fond memories of
these shows and still consider it a project I can return to when
the mood strikes me. Will there be more live shows? That's up to
the local promoters, I guess...
Cathead:
The Website. From 1994 to 1997 I was in a band called
Cathead. While a lot of people can't seem to understand why I
still care almost 10 years later, but I have a lot of very fond
memories of those years in the band. While I didn't start the
band (the history of the band actually dates back to some point
in 1992, and it was more kiisu & Syd's project than mine), I
ended up becoming the band's archivist, saving fliers and tapes
of nearly everything we did. I've been slowly uploading MP3s &
other detritus left over from those years to this site, and since
I'm constantly uncovering new material as I dig deeper into the
filing cabinet, you can count on new material surfacing as time
goes on. There's a news page on the site that will keep you
posted on what's new and when different things were posted.
The
Church Of Blasphuphmus (Not Jesus). While the site has
not been updated in quite some time, there is quite a lot of
material to be read and researched regarding the ancient religion
of Blasphuphmus. In ancient times, there was a devote following
in this Church, and their beliefs and customs were regarded with
awe and wonder by other sects and tribes. The original temple of
Blasphuphmus, which has yet to be located by our Archaeologists,
was considered by many as a great place of learning and and
revelation, not just for Blasphuphmites, but for others as well.
In the last 10 years much of the Blasphuphmite culture, long
thought to be lost to the mists of time, has be discovered and
shared with the world at large, and has gained many modern
members in recent years. Blasphuphmites have a culture and a set
of customs that seem very foreign to outsiders who have yet to
learn the ways of our Church, and this site is dedicated to
helping people understand our religion better, so that we can be
help curb the persecution that those of us who choose this way
often suffer from. This site offers a means by which people can
determine if the path to Earl is one they should follow. There
are quite a few documents relating to the Church available here,
and as time allows, more and more documents will be translated
and loaded to the site as time allows. As a Pope & member of
the Church, I have taken on the job as archivist, and have used
this site as a way to help connect the smatterings of
Blasphuphmites that exist across the world.
The
Church Of Blasphuphmus (Not Jesus) Hour. It's
not just a religion anymore! On Tuesday's from 4 P.M. to 6
P.M. I host a radio program on KPSU
(1450 AM citywide, on the PSU campus at 98.3 FM & kpsu.org).
While the show does inspire Blasphuphmites, and encourages the
teachings of Earl, for the most part I play music, and try not to
come off too preachy. This show used to run on KWVA
from 1998 to 2000. After a several year hiatus I'm back on
the air. This page (which is really sort of a sub-section
of this site anyway) has info on upcoming shows, playlists from
old shows, and other info about broadcasting. I'm also the
KPSU
Programming manager, so anyone interested in radio should contact
me with such questions.
Dabney
Coleman Knife Fight. When my friends started this
band, I immediately took on the task of maintaining their
website. While they aren't really together anymore, the site
stands as a tribute to one of my favorite bands. Hate the
drummer.
empty
room. My old bandmate kiisu d'salyss has started
a new band. I've been describing them as a mix between Pop
Rock, New Wave & Goth. In a fit of over-enthusiasm, I
opted to maintain their website. I've honestly made worse
decisions in my life, I swear. So far it's been a lot of
fun, and I even got tapped for roadie duties, which was a lot of
fun. On the site you'll find the typical band fare: photos,
mp3s, info on live dates, and things like that. They're
getting pretty close to having a full albums worth of music, and
unlike our old band, this one probably has a chance at being
liked by other people. Check it out.
